Rainbow Song

31 May 2010

Julia tells me that in her upcoming preschool graduation she will be singing a rainbow song.  Now, when I was her age I loved the Kermit the Frog’s version of Rainbow Connection. In my mind I’m hoping that this is the song – it wasn’t, but that’s okay the song she sang was great.

When she finished I let her know how good she sang and told her that I too had a rainbow song. As expected she asked me to sing it. So I put on my best Kermit impression and began singing.

“Why are there so many songs about rainbows and what’s on the other side?”

Just then she blurts out… Gold.

So I said, what? and she said… Gold daddy – at the end of a rainbow there is gold.

It was so matter of fact that I just had to laugh.

Along those lines, here is Pot O’ Old

Hupaloo just added.

17 May 2010

I just added Hupaloo. A kids poem about using a hula hoop.

This one is really about that moment when a child who has been trying so hard to make a hula hoop work comes across an expert. Add one part amazement and 3 parts jealousy.

Mother’s Day Poem for my Sweetie

5 May 2010

Mother’s Day is right around the corner and I would like to dedicate this next kids poem “Not Mommy” to my wife Kelly. She’s an incredible mother to Julia, Lily and Luke and an amazing wife.

We love you – Happy Mother’s Day from the gang!

The Last Time

3 May 2010

Here is a little background, my wife Kelly thinks that there is nothing funnier than someone falling down (assuming that no one is hurt). Put her in front of America’s Funniest Home Videos and she can’t stop laughing. This poem Last Time was an attempt to appeal to this style of humor. I also have found that adding an action item into a poem (rub my eyes) makes the poem more fun for the kids.
