Of course that is why she likes Scooby Doo

27 April 2011

Julia and I were watching Scooby Doo tonight,Scooby Doo she loves Scooby Doo. So I asked her, “hey sweetie, why do you like Scooby Doo so much?” Keep in mind that we have seen the wax phantom episode every day this week.

Now, when I asked this I expected her normal… “I don’t know”… or maybe “because it’s scary”… or “Scooby is so funny.” What I hadn’t expected was for Julia to look at me and without any hesitation say, “because dad, there are two girls.”

Duh, it was right in front of me the whole time. A show that looks and feels like a show that was targeted at boys, but has two girls.

The Poem “Secret to the Fulfilled Life (cold side of the pillow)” is now on the site

25 April 2011

Secret to the Fulfilled Life (cold side of the pillow) has just been added to the site. I know, that’s some title – not really brief. Well it’s a different type of poem. This poem is really more for adults, but it is absolutely appropriate and an excellent lesson for kids.

To date it’s one of my favorites. I think because it walks through some of my own experiences and it also highlights one of my core philosophies – appreciate what you have.

Princess Me Updated

Princess Me
I was stuck on this plane on the way to St. Louis when I got on a poem writing kick. I found myself writing a bunch of new ones and even updating a few oldies.  Here is a new and improved, twice as long, Princess Me.

I just added the kids poem Me to the site. This poem was written Kids Poem about Mewith the intention of getting the reader to act out the parts of the poem, while rewarding Daddy with a kiss at the end (of course).

Kelly and Her Crazy Cakes

5 April 2011

Kelly's Awesome Zoo Birthday CakeSo, my crazy wife (and I mean that in the most endearing way),  in preparation for our twins 2nd birthday party decided to make a zoo themed birthday cake. Her plan was to build 12 cages for her hand made shortbread cookies. Each cake was going to be a 2 layer cake. Ambitious, I know.

Well, when we put it all together, we needed a little more height. 2 layers became 3 layer and 27 (that’s right, 27 ) jars of frosting later it was ready.

36 layers of cake, 27 jars of frosting. Yikes. I wonder what she will do next time.
