Pot O’ Old
I followed the most beautiful rainbow through the mud and the grass
I crossed the river and climbed 3 trees
Over a mountain and piles of leaves
When it came to an end I approached a thick metal pot
I reached my hand in to grab me some gold
My hand came back full of ick and of mold
That leprechaun lied….unless I heard wrong
It’s so hard to tell cause his accent’s so strong

About the poem Pot O’ Old:
There are really two things happening here with this poem. 1) I really wanted to play around with rhyming patterns. Many of my favorite kids poems do not hold to predictable rhyming patterns and often times need to be read 2 or 3 times in order feel the rhythm. 2) I’ve always seen leprechauns as being a bit sneaky and hard to understand.

Chris as your little sister I say that Julia didn’t learn the gold at the end of a rainbow from me…OR DID SHE!?
2 funny 2 funny.
